I had a radon reduction system installed after my house tested above the EPA action level. It's basically a buried pipe with a fan that draws soil gas out before it enters the living space. The contractor sealed cracks in my basement floor and ran the pipe above the roofline. Now my continuous monitor shows levels well below the threshold, so I feel safer knowing we're not breathing in radioactive decay products every day.
